The Yellow Hope Project /

Print Magazine Regional Design Winner, Packaging. Six-panel CD package for “Fifty Shades of Yellow,” the second album by Korean-American singer-songwriter Arnold Kim. Arnold records under the tongue-in-cheek moniker “The Yellow Hope Project.” The album title was a play on the wildly successful “Fifty Shades of Grey” romance novel. Gagner Design decided to approach the packaging with a literal take on the title, paying homage to the visual language of the Pantone Matching System. The numbers begin on the back of the package, with the “001 Y” color chip corresponding to track 1 of the CD. The number system continues as the viewer works through the package, ending on “050 Y” — an image of the artist himself. The disc itself functions as a color wheel of all 50 shades in the “YHP” Color Matching System.
